Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a light touch of the fence.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
