The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Predictions — With Some Good News
The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive fan obsession.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Could a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
